Privacy Policy

How we collect, use and protect your personal information.

Last updated: 7 September 2026

Who we are

Brain Bloom Education Ltd is a company registered in England and Wales. We are the data controller for the personal information described in this policy.

You can reach us at info@brain-bloom.co.uk or on 07939 890857.

What we collect

Depending on how you use this website, we may collect:

  • Contact details such as your name, email address and mobile number, when you request a free sample, submit the contact form, or book a free assessment.
  • Your child's year group, so we can send material appropriate to their stage. We do not ask for your child's name, date of birth or school through this website.
  • Purchase information when you buy practice papers. Payments are processed by Stripe. We receive confirmation of the purchase and your email address, but we never see or store your full card details.
  • Writing submitted to StoryBloom, where your child uses it. This includes the text they write and the feedback generated in response.
  • Basic usage data such as which pages you visited, collected by our hosting provider and any analytics we run.

Why we use it, and our lawful basis

  • To deliver what you asked for. Sending your free sample or the pack you bought. Lawful basis: performance of a contract, or steps taken at your request before entering one.
  • To send you marketing. Tips, offers and information about our tuition. Lawful basis: your consent, given by ticking the box when you request a sample. You can withdraw it at any time.
  • To respond to enquiries. Answering your questions and arranging assessments. Lawful basis: legitimate interests in running our business, or performance of a contract.
  • To improve how StoryBloom gives feedback. Writing submitted to StoryBloom is used to improve the quality of the guidance the service gives, with identifying details removed first. It is never sold, and it is never passed to another company to train their own systems. Lawful basis: legitimate interests in improving a service we provide, balanced against the interests of the child. You can opt out of this at any time by emailing us, and doing so does not change how the app works for your child.
  • To meet our legal obligations, including keeping records of sales for tax purposes. Lawful basis: legal obligation.

Children's information

This website is intended for parents and carers, not for children. Where we collect information relating to a child, such as their year group, we collect it from the adult and use it only to make sure the material we send is suitable. Where a child submits writing through StoryBloom, that writing is treated as their personal information and handled under this policy. If you believe a child has submitted personal information to us directly outside of that, contact us and we will delete it.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your information. We share it only with the service providers that make this website work:

  • Stripe for payment processing
  • MailerLite for email delivery and marketing
  • Zapier for connecting these systems together
  • Google for our record keeping and assessment bookings
  • Netlify for website hosting

Some of these providers are based outside the UK. Where that is the case, we rely on the safeguards they have in place for international transfers.

How long we keep it

We keep marketing contacts until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete your details, and we review our list periodically to remove people who have not engaged. Records of purchases are kept for six years to meet HMRC requirements.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to ask us for a copy of your information, to correct it, to delete it, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to ask us to transfer it elsewhere. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time, either by using the unsubscribe link in any email or by contacting us directly.

You can also ask us at any time to exclude your child’s StoryBloom writing from being used to improve the service. We will action that on request, you do not need to give a reason, and it will not affect your child’s use of the app.

To exercise any of these rights, email info@brain-bloom.co.uk. We will respond within one month.

Cookies

This website uses only the cookies and similar storage needed for it to function, such as remembering that you have already seen a popup during your visit. If we add analytics or advertising cookies in future, we will ask for your consent first and update this policy.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last revised.
